Trekking through remote forests in exotic destinations in search of rare and wondrous plants may seem like a Victorian pursuit, but not to plant explorer Dan Hinkley. This award-winning horticulturist, nurseryman, and garden writer has traveled the globe to bring unusual plants to North American gardeners. While he experiences plant exploration as a joyous adventure, he also sees it as an imperative. He emphasizes, “We need to know what is surviving at this moment in time on the planet.†For this program The Polly Hill Arboretum in West Tisbury has asked Hinkley to share his breathtaking pictures and plant hunting adventures in Taiwan, Japan, and Korea to coordinate with their plant collections and Polly’s historical interest in Asian plants. 7:30 pm. $10/$5 for PHA members.
